I can’t express enough how satisfying it is to work on a group project that results in a campus wide dialogue.
Our group members had a great dynamic from the start. We equally contributed ideas, and met often and early.
Last night we were wrapping up editing our media spot for our Human Rights Awareness campaign. It’s all coming together quite nicely.
It’s Time to Uncover launches March 18 and will last until the 21st, culminating in a Bra donation drive that will go to an amazing organization, http://freethegirls.org/.
Did you hear about that bra thing on facebook?
Is a question I am hearing all over campus.
I love to stop and talk to people on campus about the pervasiveness of modern day slavery, a human rights violation that is occuring every day to millions of people.
I am proud of my work thus far. I cannot wait to see how this event goes in 2 weeks.
From the freethegirls website, “Since CNN filmed the arrival of the first shipment of 32,000 bras in Mozambique in July, we’re happy to report that we’ve been able to replicate the results of our successful pilot program and add more women to our program, for a current total of 15—and we’re adding more every month! The women are selling hundreds of bras every week, and have already sold 1500 so far this month! Some of the women are returning to school, others are building homes and taking care of their families. Their families are expanding, too—with marriage and new babies. And it is all thanks to YOU and your incredible support! We are eternally grateful and humbled!”
